A pioneer in time and attendance, still independent
Established in 1994, Thinking Software is a UK business and a pioneer in time and attendance and workforce management systems. With decades of experience, we have been at the forefront of providing solutions that help organisations manage their workforce and optimise their operations.
We believe a well-managed and engaged workforce is the key to business success. Our time and attendance and workforce management systems are designed for companies of all sizes and industries, to streamline processes, improve productivity and support sustainable growth.
Thirty years of workforce management
1994
A system called ROTA
Steve Rothkopf wrote our first time and attendance system at his kitchen table, advertised it in a computer magazine, and sold 30 systems in a matter of weeks.
2019
Twenty-five years, and Musterd
By our 25th anniversary the system was running in hotels, factories, warehouses and offices around the world, processing more than 750,000 employee time-recording transactions a day for over 250 clients. The same year we launched Musterd, our roll call and evacuation app.
Today
RotaOne and Musterd
We work from a complex of restored barns overlooking the Windrush valley in the Cotswolds, supporting organisations worldwide, with 49 integrations into the payroll, HR and access control systems our customers already run.
“I was sitting at my kitchen table back in 1994, wondering what I could do to help businesses become more cost-effective. So, almost as an experiment, I went back to my small-enterprise roots and wrote a simple Time & Attendance System, and named it ROTA.”
